Dexis™ CariVu™
DEXIS™ CariVu™ allows your dentist to see your teeth in a whole new way. The handheld device is non-invasive, painless and eliminates the need to expose patients to radiation. We can now see more than ever before when compared to traditional radiographs.
This tool eliminates the need to use an x-ray. The diagnostic tool uses near-infrared transillumination technology to detect cavities and a built-in camera to take images of the teeth so we can actually show you the damage to your tooth.
CariVu can help to diagnose tooth decay in the earliest stages allowing for more conservative treatment. This innovative new technology is a great patient education tool and helps Dr. Marckese improve your oral healthcare. The images are easy to understand so you can make better, more informed decisions about your treatment options.
Digital Dental X-Rays
We use digital x-rays at DentalSpa so that we can provide our patients higher quality of dencal care. There are many advantages to digital x-ray. To begin, your exposure to x-rays is reduced by up to 90%! These radiographic images are magnified on a computer screen, allowing you to better see what Dr. Marckese sees.
Being able to magnify the images will lead to a faster diagnosis. The most valuable part of digital dental x-rays is they are instantly able to be seen without the long processing time. In addition, these digital x-rays can be e-mailed to specialists we may refer you to – saving you both time and money.
Since there is no developing of film, your dental check-ups will take less time, and most people enjoy watching this system work.
Intraoral Photography
The use of the intraoral camera (which is the size of a toothbrush) is what Dr. Marckese believes to be the biggest aid in educating patients on THEIR oral health.
This vital tool allows us to do the most important step in your dental treatments: planning. The images – which are actual photographs taken of your teeth – allow Dr. Marckese and her staff to show you what may be causing a problem you are experiencing. You are able to view for yourself if a tooth is cracked or broken, if a filling is leaking, or if everything looks healthy.
With this image, Dr. Marckese will create a treatment plan that is incredibly precise. Patients appreciate that it allows them to make informed decisions about their dental treatment.
