Juvéderm® in Indianapolis, IN: How Does It Work?

Juvederm in Indianapolis Indiana

Dr. Amy offers Juvéderm®, one of the leading hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers on the market, from Allergan, the makers of Botox®. Juvéderm is hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin that helps produce collagen to maintain volume.

It also helps retain moisture and softness. As we age, hyaluronic acid decreases in our skin, leading to volume loss. Our skin then begins to droop and sag, and fine lines and wrinkles will begin to appear.

Juvéderm will restore lost volume in treated areas by replenishing hyaluronic acid and increasing the natural production of collagen. It can reduce the signs of aging by filling in the wrinkles seen when your face is at rest.

We can use Juvéderm on many areas, including the lips, cheeks, lines from the nose to the mouth, lines from the mouth to the chin, hands, and temples. Juvéderm® is not a permanent treatment and cannot give you the same results as plastic surgery.

The effects can last anywhere from six months to two years. The Juvéderm® formula has a very low risk of allergic reaction or rejection because it is non-animal-based.

It is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid with a proven track record of safety.

Benefits of Juvederm Treatment

Juvéderm® FAQs

How long does Juvederm last?

The results from Juvéderm injections will last for about a year. The lifespan of Juvéderm treatment depends on the treated body part. It is not a permanent solution, so your body will naturally break down and reabsorb the material over time.

Does Juvederm work immediately?

Yes. You will be able to see your results immediately! You may experience minor swelling or bruising but this should resolve after a week.

What is the Juvederm process like?

The procedure lasts 15-30 minutes, depending on how many syringes are needed and which parts of your face receive treatment. A typical session uses 1 or 2 syringes of Juvéderm®. The syringe of Juvéderm® will be injected into the mid to deep dermis (below the outer layer of the skin) by Dr. Amy.

What can you not do after Juvederm?

After the Juvederm procedure, patients should avoid excessive heat, including hot foods and beverages, saunas, hot showers, and sun exposure. Patients should also avoid alcohol for the first 24 hours after treatment.

How long does swelling last after Juvederm?

Patients typically experience swelling for about 2 weeks after treatment. Swelling is typically minimal and begins to subside after about a week.

What should you avoid before Juvederm?

Patients should refrain from using moisturizers, cleansers, and facial ointments for at least 48 hours before Juvederm treatment. These products may irritate the skin, which could negatively impact treatment.
