Sedation Dentistry Indianapolis, IN

It has been estimated that 3 out of every 10 American adults avoids visits to the dentist because of fear and anxiety. Dental phobia is a serious condition that prevents people from getting the dental care they need. Without routine visits to the dentist office, patients can face tooth loss, gum disease, and oral cancers.

Dr. Amy Marckese opened the DentalSpa in Indianapolis, IN to help patients have a new outlook on visiting the dentist. Our office is designed to be relaxing and comfortable and looks, smell, or sounds nothing like a traditional dentist office. We offer complimentary spa amenities, nitrous oxide, and spend one-on-one time with patients to understand their personal concerns and to help them feel at ease.

With all of our spa amenities, you might forget you’re at the dentist. We have a professional masseuse to provide massages and paraffin wax treatment.

Our treatment rooms have TV and music with personal noise-canceling headphones. For many, this can reduce their anxious feelings and enable them to overcome dental fears without sedation. We’ll also send you home with a milkshake or smoothie after treatment!

Nitrous Oxide

We offer nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas,” to help you feel more relaxed during your procedure. It is a safe and effective sedation method that you will inhale through a small mask that will fit over your nose. The gas is mixed with oxygen, and you will inhale it throughout the entire appointment.

Nitrous oxide is extremely safe, and is only effective while you are inhaling it. It works by depressing the nervous system and inducing a state of relaxation and euphoria. The sedative also has mild pain-relieving properties. You will remain awake and alert throughout treatment.

Once the nose piece is removed, the effects of the laughing gas wear off quickly. You will be able to resume normal activities without feeling drowsy. Dr. Marckese can use it for several dental procedures ranging from routine cleanings to more complex treatments for anxious or fearful patients.

Yes, nitrous oxide is an extremely effective and safe dental tool we use. When administered by trained professionals in a dental setting, it helps patients receive necessary dental care. The greatest benefit is you will recover quickly after the gas is discontinued. However, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions.
