Improving the patient experience is an integral part of the DentalSpa experience. Indianapolis, IN dentist Dr. Amy Marckese-Braun has incorporated some of the latest technology into her Indianapolis, IN dentist office in order to provide dental treatments that are more accurate and less painful.
Our technology allows us to help you to make more informed decisions about your oral health based on education.
DEXIS™ CariVu™ allows your dentist to see your teeth in a whole new way. The handheld device is non-invasive, painless and eliminates the need to expose patients to radiation. The diagnostic tool uses near-infrared light and a built-in camera to take images of the teeth.
CariVu can help to diagnose tooth decay in the earliest stages allowing for more conservative treatment. This innovative new technology helps Dr. Marckese-Braun improve your oral healthcare.
Digital Dental X-Rays
We use digital x-ray at DentalSpa. There are many advantages to digital x-ray. To begin, your exposure to x-rays is reduced by up to 90%! These radiographic images, which instantly appear, are magnified on a computer screen, allowing you to better see what Dr. Marckese-Braun sees.
In addition, these digital x-rays can be e-mailed to specialists we may refer you to – saving you both time and money. Since there is no developing of film, your dental check-ups will take less time, and most people enjoy watching this system work.
The use of the intraoral camera (which is the size of a toothbrush) is what Dr. Marckese-Braun believes to be the biggest aid in educating patients on THEIR oral health.
The images – which are actual photographs taken of your teeth – allow Dr. Marckese-Braun and her staff to show you what may be causing a problem you are experiencing. You are able to view for yourself if a tooth is cracked or broken, if a filling is leaking, or if everything looks healthy. Patients appreciate that it allows them to make informed decisions about their dental treatment.
Air abrasion is an alternative to the use of the dental drill. It works by blowing powder (aluminum oxide) using compressed air. This powder “puffs” away the surface causing no pain – anesthetic is rarely required.
It cannot be used for all situations – such as removing silver fillings, crown preparations, or large areas of decay. However, it is great for teeth that have never been filled and for children
