Afraid of the Dentist? Here’s How We Made a Visit to Dental Spa Indianapolis Feel Like a Day at the Spa

Let’s be honest for a second. When was the last time you heard someone say, “I can’t wait for my dentist appointment!”? Probably never. And that’s completely understandable. For a lot of folks, walking into a dental office brings back memories of that strange smell, the sound of the drill, or just that vulnerable feeling of sitting in a chair with someone poking around in your mouth. Dental anxiety can be debilitating, and it’s not exactly your idea of a good time.

Dr. Amy Marckese heard that same thing from patients for years. “I hate going to the dentist.” So back in 2004, she decided to do something about it. She created Dental Spa Indianapolis, a place designed to change not just your smile, but how you feel about getting there.

What if It Didn’t Have to Feel Like a Dentist Office?

Think about the last time you walked into a medical office. You probably remember the smell first. That clean, but very clinical, antiseptic scent that immediately tells your brain: you are in a doctor’s office.

Now, imagine walking into our space. The first thing you’ll notice? It doesn’t smell like a dentist office. We’ve traded that clinical smell for calming aromatherapy. It’s a small change, but you’d be surprised how much it tricks your brain into relaxing.

From there, it just gets better.

The Little Luxuries That Make a Big Difference

We believe that if you’re going to spend time in a dental chair, you should at least be comfortable. Really comfortable.

Every one of our exam rooms is equipped with massage chairs. So while Dr. Marckese or one of our hygienists is taking care of your teeth, your back and shoulders are getting a little relief. We’ve got soft support pillows and cozy blankets, too. And because we know not everyone wants to listen to the sounds of the dental office, each room has its own TV with personal headphones. You can watch your favorite show, catch up on the game (we hear ESPN is popular), or just zone out.

Oh, and did we mention we have a full-time massage therapist on staff? Because we do. You can actually schedule a professional massage as part of your visit. During certain treatments, we even offer paraffin wax treatments for your hands, the kind of thing you’d normally pay for at a fancy day spa.

For When You Need a Little Extra Help Relaxing

Sometimes, a massage chair and a blanket aren’t enough. And that’s okay. Dental anxiety is real, and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about.

For patients who experience genuine fear or nervousness, we offer sedation dentistry. This isn’t about being “put under” like in a hospital. It’s more like a state of deep relaxation. You’re still awake and responsive, but the edge is completely taken off. Procedures that might have taken hours can feel like they flew by in minutes. Many patients tell us they barely remember the appointment afterward.

Quality Care is Still the Heart of It

Now, let’s be clear about something. All these spa amenities are wonderful, and we love providing them. But they’re not the main event. They’re just the way we remove the barriers so you can get the dental care you deserve.

Dr. Marckese built her practice on providing high-quality, comprehensive dental care. Whether you’re coming in for a simple cleaning, considering porcelain veneers, or needing help with jaw pain from teeth grinding, the clinical expertise is the foundation. The spa experience is simply how we make sure nothing gets in the way of you getting that care.

You Might Actually Look Forward to It

We’ve had patients tell us they never thought they’d actually look forward to a dentist appointment. But after experiencing the difference, they get it.

So if fear or dental anxiety has kept you away from the dentist for a while, we’d love to show you another way. Give us a call or schedule an appointment online. Come see our new space. Let us prove that a trip to the dentist can feel less like a chore and more like a little slice of relaxation in your day.
